　　Following the letter of invitation to all TWAS Members by Professor Jacob Palis, President of TWAS, and on behalf of the local hosts, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and other supporting organizations, I take pleasure in adding our warmest welcome for each and every one of you to attend the 12th General Conference and 23rd General Meeting of TWAS in Tianjin, China this September 18th to 21st. Your participation and attendance will not only contribute to the success of this important event, but presents a wonderful opportunity for further promotion of the scientific links, communication and cooperation between the institution/country you represent and those of other TWAS Member countries. For international guests, it will also be an opportunity for you to see with your own eyes the great changes that have taken place in China since our last Conference in 2003.
